After a 3-year’s break, here came the 5th AWC bowling contest! I wouldn’t deny that I play bowling because of Andy. To be honest, I don’t really like this game and I am not be a good player. However, I learned several lessons with a group of family members in the beginning of this year. Coincidentally, AWC has organized a bowling contest. Therefore, there was no reason for me not to try it!

As a competitor, I set a goal for meself – “To challenge 80 scores”. Because of the clear goal, I did not have pressure at all as a beginner. In addition, there was a magic thread that AWC is really like a home to us. Appropriately, this was not a contest, this was a family gathering! Whoever joined the contest were competitors. However, this didn’t seem to happen here. Whenever there were strikes or spares, competitors would clap and cheer excitedly for each others. On the other hand, when there were missing strikes, we felt sorry and clenched our fists, and shouted “cheer up!” Whenever came across someone doubted about scoring, other competitors would help even though just with limited knowledge.

I doubted if this was a really a contest. Players were excited with joy for their competitors when they scored. Although I did not get into the first 30 positions, I have achieved my goal and broke my record with 123 scores, which I was surprised and happy. After all, the most unforgettable experiences for me were our mutual supports, smiles, hugs and applauses. One may obtain a certificate of participation on hand but not mutual supports and cares, which I experienced.

After the competition between family members, the expected Guests contest finally came. Although the team led by Andy was in the second place, all family members enjoyed watching their techniques and styles. Their playing was eye-opening.

Finally, Andy and all members took a group photo to round up the contest!
