2008 “Hand in Hand Welcome Party”
March 2, 2008 was an unforgettable day in my life. It is because I could meet my idol, Andy Lau, in a close distance. I was already a little fan of Andy when I was 7 years old, later I immigrated to Canada with my family, after more than 20 years, when I came back to Hong Kong in the end of 2007, I saw the advertisement of “Wonderful World Concert Tour” which made me wish to know more about Andy, so I decided to be a member of “Andy World Club”.
I replied immediately after receiving the notice letter about “Hand In Hand Welcome Party”. On the day of the party, I start feeling nervous when I saw many people waiting in line at the reception. After looking round “Andy World Club” place, I took my seat. I saw people having hungry smile on their faces, and it was obvious that they were just like me, waiting for a person to appear.
At the Welcome Party, firstly MC, Venus, and Manager, Maggie, introduced the history, administrative staff, and a group of the volunteer workers of “Andy World Club” I felt that they are same as Andy, contribute enthusiastically to Andy, Andy World Club and society. And also Roger, the webmaster of awc618.com, explained the website in details. And then, also a video about the events held by Andy World Club over the years, such as Birthday Party, Dream Comes True Party … etc was played.
The party climaxed with the appearance of Andy, cheers sounded just like a concert! He was happy and surprised to see nearly 700 new members. There was a member of 5-month-old baby held in arms too! After that, Andy and MC introduced “Family Rules” one by one. They even added the item, “Be sure to pay the membership fee” The whole people made a positive response to it! In the “Junk dealer” game, 6 members won in the end and received ANDOX doll from Andy’s hands, unexpectedly they were all children. Andy was very funny when he took photos with the children. At the party, some members gave present to Andy, to my surprise, the most present he had received was “ Red Bomb ! ” (Invitation to wedding ceremony) Everybody was happy all through the Welcome Party, how I wish time would stop at that moment. The party ended in cheers, and I reluctantly left the party!
At the Welcome Party, I felt the warmth of “Andy World Club “ deeply. It seems like a big family, every staff’s friendly attitude, and the warm-hearted smile made me feel at home. Here, I wish to tell all the staff “Everyone is No. 1” ! Andy never be arrogant as a superstar when he is off stage,he had a pleasant talk with us, there was no constraint at all, he blended himself with us, and made us feel very comfortable. I have always modeled myself on Andy, “Andy, I’m so proud of you !” I like him more everyday.
Lastly, I will attend more events of “Andy World Club”, my goal is to receive the Gold Medal of “ Oldies Award” from Andy in person 10 years later. Andy and “Andy World Club”, please keep up the good work, I will support you forever!
