AWC Anniversary Party, an event that family from all around the world looked forward to, was held on 9 June in Star Hall of Kowloonbay International Trade & Exhibition Centre. This year, family members apart from purchasing party souvenirs before admission as usual, could take photos with the trophies of Golden Horse Award and Hong Kong Film Award at the “Trophies of the Best Actor Charity Photo Zone”. Members might show their support to ‘Andy Lau Charity Foundation’ by donation. None of us could cover our happiness for Andy being the best actor.
The stage decoration caught our focus when we entered the venue in line. There was a white cottage with a large bunch of red balloons hanging in the middle of the air above the stage. The edge of the stage was covered with white balloons. It was like a floating castle in the sky. The most eye-catching should be the balloon-made huge Golden Horse and the Hong Kong Film Award Trophy placing on the both sides of the stage.
Soft melody, familiar songs and scene by scene of Andy’s charming looks over the years marked the starting of the Party! When the enormous balloon exploded, Andy appeared in a tailor-made red balloons tuxedo singing 【一生愛】 to open the prelude of the ‘Heading Towards Jubilee Anniversary Party’. Then he sang a few songs of the same theme – LOVE, such as 【長途伴侶】,【愛的連線】…etc. And, the performing group’s members became angles holding brunch of red balloons with Andy in the middle forming a heart-shaped that made the environment warm and motivated. Everyone was very excited when he led the performing group passing a few huge beach balls with palm prints to the audience from the stage. They symbolized Andy having HIGH FIVE with members in the venue and the atmosphere of the Party pushed even higher.
Followed by the Presentation of Senior, Oldies and Volunteer Award, representatives from Hong Kong, Taiwan, Mainland China and Korea, on behalf of those awardees and members, expressed the deep feelings from their hearts to Andy. Then he sang 【一起走過的日子】with those members on the stage to continue the spirit of Love Andy Forever and extend Andy World Club. At that moment, I was thinking, “Being a fan of Andy is not due to his appearance anymore. It is because he treats us as his own family. His consideration to members and seriousness to his work are a good example for us to learn from.”
To acknowledge and praise the selfless love of volunteers from different regions and send blessings to the four members who were not feeling well, Andy performed 【沒有人可以像你】particularly for them. What’s more, the participation of Little Yang Yang’s family let Andy feel graceful. From the screen, we could see the healthy, lovely little boy who added positive energy to all of us.
The most wonderful part of the Party was the support of Andy’s best friend, Cheung Tat-ming, even though he was sick. He made fun of Andy’s current issues and had a stand-up comedy with him together. We burst into laughter about the topics they discussed! For his surprise, Andy and us celebrate Tat-ming’s birthday on stage and wished him a speedy recovery and good health.
Andy followed by singing a few movie theme songs with those movies starred by him playing on the screen that reminded us lots of memories. Performing 【影帝無用】, expressed his anxiety about awarding the Best Actor in Taiwan and Hong Kong for three
times and we were deeply moved by his efforts spent in movies.
It was the time for cake-cutting!!! Except celebrating the 24th anniversary of AWC, it also celebrated birthday of Andy’s Father and Father’s Day. A train-style cake which was handmade by the Creative Team implied the on-going of AWC towards the Jubilee. After that, AWC staff presented a plaque which made from the palms of members all over the world with “We are proud of you throughout our life.” on it for Andy. As a token of gratitude to the members, he gave each audience a picture of the palms of his family – his baby daughter, his wife and himself. We were all touched by his action.
At last, after a series of dancing songs, Andy sang 【愛你一萬年】and 【永遠記得你】to draw the end of the Party.
I hope our ‘family’ can continuously spread the LOVE and support our Big Brother as well as the family members around us. In addition, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all staff of both back and front-stage as there is always a surprise for us in the Anniversary Party, which is more exciting and touching. And of course, we won’t forget to be grateful to our dearest Andy! For those who missed the Party, I look forward to meet you all in September at Andy’s Birthday Party and have fun together!!!
