Plot

Retired military officer Lao Ding ( Sammo Hung ) has been deeply blamed for the loss of his granddaughter in the park, which has intensified his guilt.

He then suffered in the early stages of dementia, living alone and befriends a young girl Chunhua ( Jacqueline Chan) who is the next door neighbor . Chunhua’s father Li Zhengjiu ( Andy Lau ) is an abusive gambler, becomes heavily in debt , was being forced to embark on a criminal assignment, which he is assaulted by the gang and killed,

Ding, who has been plagued with guilt for years, ever since his granddaughter went missing on a hiking trip, resolves to bring Chunhua back using force, the gang attempts to kill him , Ding calls upon forgotten skills to keep her safe.

In the aftermath of the incident, Ding’s dementia worsens, he remembers his relationship with Chunhua who cares for him well into his senescence.
