On 12 September 2011, the Mid-Autumn Festival night, excited members from all over the world gathered in the Asia World-Expo to celebrate Andy’s birthday at “50 Years Everlasting Love Banquet”.
Around 8 pm, long-waited Andy in trim black tuxedo appeared with high-spirited. He toasted and opened the prolog for the Banquet. There were 138 vegetarian feasts, what a prosperous scene! The ten dishes included fruit salad with vegetarian shrimp, vegetarian braised sliced pork in fermented red bean curd … etc.. Red bean soup and birthday buns were served as dessert. We all enjoyed the food with great relish.
After having the delicious vegetarian dinner, wonderful performances by members showed one after another. One very interesting session was a group of Andy’s good friends chatting on stage with a theme “If I were Andy Lau”. Hacken Lee said if he was Andy Lau, he would buy a TV station, while Anthony Wong Chau Sang said he would purchase the Causeway Bay district for a night! What made Andy laughed out aloud and a burst of applause from the audience was when Vincent Kuk Tak Chiu said he would use Andy’s attractive appearance to hang out in nightclubs.
Among the good friends, Eric Tsang Chi Wai said in a more emotional way, “Andy Lau does much more than a normal person, so it’s very hard for him. There is no spot of luck for the achievements he has obtained today. The love of Andy towards his Fans won’t be lesser than his Fans’ love towards him. His success is certainly not by luck.” What Eric praised the perseverance and professionalism of Andy won a thunderous applause.
Two important guests showed up after the causal chatting. One was Mr. Chiu Tsang Hei, the talented musician; another was Ms. Deanie Ip who came all the way from Venice to attend the banquet right after receiving the Coppa Volpi for the Best Actress. With Chiu’s piano accompaniment, Ms. Deanie performed “Shinning Star” and presented the trophies (Equal Opportunities Award and Signis Special Mention Award) of “A Simple Life” and hers to Andy to thank for his support and encouragement. Over hundreds of members sent flowers to congratulate Deanie’s success. All of them were proud of both Deanie and Andy and looked forward to the official film release.
Last but not the least, Andy sang a song “No One Can be Like You” to express his feeling which made the members fascinated in the grand finale. The atmosphere of the night was pushed to new heights with two fast songs followed.
We will never forget the promise we made to Andy – “Love Andy for A Life, Love for Ten Thousands Years”. Finally, we thanked the staff of the Fan Club for their arranging a marvelous Mid-Autumn Festival night for us!
