[Track]Andy – A Devoted and Energetic Man

You should be surprised by Andy’s popularity through these years if you have experienced his generation.  Andy grew up in a slum.  Worked as a courier and a salon assistant, he became famous because of his TV drama ‘神雕俠侶’ released when he was 22.  He got his first best actor award in Hong Kong when he was 40.  As a hardworking artist, Andy participated in 4.6 movies, released 5 albums, published 33 songs, composed lyrics for 6.7 songs, organized 13.3 concerts and got 16.6 awards annually in average.  Throughout his 38-year career, he has no negative news or rumor.

After 40, Andy transformed his business as a movie investor and producer without giving up his performance career.  Recently, he acted and produced  a classic Hong Kong cop-and-gangster movie, ‘The White Storm 2 – Drug Lords’.

Going to 60, Andy promoted his new movie ‘The White Storm 2 – Drug Lords’ in 5 cities within 6 days.  Interviewed by more than 20 media during his promotion trip, we cannot feel Andy’s tiredness  while seeing him in Shanghai (the last city he visited during the promotion trip).  He entered the interview room with a smiling face and greeted the media.  Andy is not very tall but fit.  He looks healthy in a causal suit while his ankles can be clearly seen as usual.  His eating habit as a vegetarian made him especially fit.  From entering the room, taking a seat to answer the first question, the entire process took less than 30 seconds.

Andy mentioned that he has psychological illness after his injury in 2017.  He started to fear of something which didn’t frighten him before.  The cop-and-gangster movie, ‘The White Storm 2’ included lots of action scenes.  In the story, Andy won in a horse racing game.  He was required to hold the horse and take a picture.  He said, ‘I thought I was really close to the horse while shooting.  However, when I reviewed the play back, I found that it was far away from me.  My ‘wife’ Karena was standing just near the horse instead.’

There was another scene talking about Andy chasing his son at the rooftop.  His son fell down from the building.  Andy looked at him lying on the ground from the rooftop.  ‘The rooftop was really high.  He floor was wet as it was raining.  I thought it was quite dangerous and I requested the director to hold me with a string at my back tightly.’ 

The last scene of the movie was a great battle between Andy and Louis.  Inside the MTR station, they crashed each other’s cars and even the train.  ‘I am sorry that a stuntman helped me for the car crashing scene.’  Andy turned his face to the camera and apologized.  ‘I understand it is also dangerous for the stuntman.  I was really feared at that time.  When the stuntman was acting that scene, I was really nervous.’
