Plot
In the early 1950s, the Chinese Civil War has ended with the defeat of Republic of China and the establishment of the People’s Republic of China by the communists. Soldiers from the 93rd Division of the Republic of China Army take their families to northern Burma (Myanmar). The hike through the jungle is full of disasters and shortages of supplies, Deng Kebao (Tou Chung-hua)saw his compatriots keep falling down, and even the mother of his friend Xiao Du (Andy Lau)died in flight. To this end, Xiao Du was sad and chose to leave the army and join the local caravan.
Deng settle within the China–Burma border. They build a village and form an alliance with a local armed gang to resist attacks from the Burmese government. One day, the Burmese army launched a violent attack, resulting in a precarious situation, and the whole army was in danger of defeat. At this time, Xiao Du suddenly cooperated with his fellow horsemen to help fight against the enemy, and he was killed for it. Deng’s son was also bombed to death.
In the end, Deng was desperate for the government of the Republic of China in Taiwan, took his family away from the plane that was supposed to connect them to Taiwan, and returned to the son who was buried here …
