[Track]Andy Celebrates His Birthday on Mid-autumn Festival
This year is Andy’s 50th birthday, he held “50 Years Everlasting Love Banquet” on Mid-Autumn Festival at AsiaWorld-Expo with 150 tables to cater fans from all over the world to celebrate his birthday and Mid-Autumn Festival. It was a star-stubbed AsiaWorld-Expo as his good friends that attended including Michael Miu, Kent Tong, Felix Wong, Hacken Lee, Anthony Wong, Lam Ka-tung, Lawrence Cheng, Vincent Kuk Tak Chiu and newly crowned Venice Film Festival Best Actress Deanie Ip. Deanie gave her trophy to Andy as birthday present which make him hesitate to receive. He quipped, “OK! It will stay with me for two days!”
Gorgeous Deanie who just touched down in Hong Kong fromVeniceearlier the day sang ‘Ming Xing’ to congratulate Andy. When she brought out the Best Actress award, Andy said excitedly, “This is the trophy I really want to see.” She then expressed that she would give it to him but he shook his head and said, “No, No, No!” because he felt that the trophy has huge meaning to her and would not wish to take it away from her. After some pushing and declining,Andy canonly said that he just kept the trophy for two days before returning to the owner. He quipped, “Never expected this trophy is so heavy.” Deanie also praised Andy being a nice and hardworking person as she exclaimed that without him there would not be the film ‘A Simple Life’ and she would not be able to win the award. Andy congratulated her and director Ann Hui again, he hoped the film would win the Best Film award in the Hong Kong Films Awards, whereas Deanie wished him to win the Best Actor award in HKFA too. Coming to 50 years old, his friends in showbiz like Jackie Chan, Sandra Ng, Feng Xiaogang, Gong Li, George Lam, Ann Hui, Sammi Cheng recorded congratulation videos for him.
His friends revealed Andy’s secrets when talking about the topic “If I wereAndy Lau”. Hacken quipped about Andy loved to buy, he said, “He loves singing thus bought a recording studio; he loves movies thus opened a film company; what if he loves drama series, it is the best to buy a TV station, then everybody will be delighted about it as there will be so many programs to watch.” Anthony suggested, “His fans always address him as ‘lao da’ (Big Brother), actually Andy should be addressed as ‘United World President’ and his fans will be the citizens.” Eric then quipped that he will be the secretary-general.
Fans from all over the world performed different performances for Andy, which included singing, dancing, the little monk in the film ‘Shaolin’ specially came to perform kungfu. Andy’s two “sons” Andox and Box also came onto the stage to sing the birthday song for him.
Eric led all fans to raise their hands and vowed to love Andy forever which touched him into tears. Then Andy sang several songs that ended the party.
