The long-looking forward “The 31st Hong Kong Film Awards” finally held on 15 April. “A Simple Life” was nominated with 8 awards – The Best Film, The Best Director (Ann Hui On Wah), The Best Screenplay (Susan Chan Suk Yin), The Best Actress (Deanie Ip), The Best Supporting Actor (Paul Chiang), The Best Supporting Actress (Qin Hailu), The Best Cinematography (Yu Lik Wai). For Andy, he was nominated for The Best Actor.
AWC specially invited members to gather at Fans Club forming a “Best Actor Cheering Team” and watched the Award Ceremony in live. The staff also prepared dinner boxes, snacks and drinks for us to enjoy the show. Whenever Andy shown up on the screen, we were so excited and cheered for him as if we were there.
We shouted out our slogan time to time – “ A Simple Life for a load of Prizes; Double Best Actor sure for Andy”. We felt more and more nervous after those awards were presented one by one. At last, it was the time for The Best Actor. We all held our breaths and paid attention to the announcement…… “The Best Actor is…… Andy Lau!!!!! “. We kept shouting and clapping with excitement, our HOME was full of cheers!
But for our surprise, Andy knew we were cheering for him at HOME. Once the Ceremony ended, he hurried back and shared his joy of winning the Best Actor award with us. When we saw Andy arrive with the Trophy in his hand, the screaming and the excitement reached the highest!
That night, “A Simple Life” was presented with five awards – The Best Actor (Andy Lau), The Best Actress (Deanie Ip), The Best Screenplay (Susan Chan Suk Yin), The Best Film & The Best Director (Ann Hui On Wah). Congratulations!
Once again, we congratulate Andy and “A Simple Life” on winning all the awards and we are thankful for organizing the Cheering Team for us.
