Plot
A band of European mercenaries, including William Garin (Matt Damon)and his partner Pero travel to China in search of the secret to gunpowder, resting in a cave a few miles north of the Great Wall, they are attacked by a monster. The alien monsters called Tao Tei, attacks human once every sixty years.
A horde of Tao Tei attacks the Wall during the reign of the Renzong Emperor, and William caught by soldiers, was taken prisoner. The commanders wondered why he was not killed by the monster, Strategist Wang(Andy Lau) found that William got a stone, he studied an ancient scroll, believes the stone William carries enabled him to slay the Tao Tei , suggests that the monsters are pacified by magnets.
William agrees to help so as to get the gunpowder, as wave after wave of marauding beasts besiege the massive structure, William turns himself into a journey toward heroism as he joins a huge army of elite warriors to confront the unimaginable and seemingly unstoppable Tao Tei
