Andy spent New Year’s Eve happily with 13,000 fans and greeted the year 2008 together at Hong Kong Coliseum. It was the 11th performance of “Andy Lau Wonderful World Concert 2007”. The starting time was postponed to 9:30pm because it was New Year’s Eve. When the year 2008 is going to start, emotions of Andy and audience run high, and an enthusiastic male fan generously gave Andy a $200,000 watch as a New Year gift. Andy was puzzled with the gift, then returns it to the fan and told him to contribute to people in need. Stepped into the year 2008, at 0:00, Andy and dancers pulled crackers at once. Andy received champagne as a gift from fans. Everybody had a happy time in New Year. Andy shouted “Happy New Year” continuously at more than 10,000 audiences. His emotions run high and enthusiastically run around the stage several times. the whole audience emotions run high when he hugged with fans. Cheers and screams with joy sounded all over. Andy’s sneaker almost comes off because he runs so fast. As to the New Year wish for 2008, Andy said with laugh “I hope live audience will be happy, if you all have unhappy memories last year, I will make up for you all tonight! I wish I can reserve Hong Kong Coliseum again for the next concert soon! Happy New Year! I hope everything goes in your favor!”
The concert ended as late as 12:40am.Andy left the venue after finished singing song “Meiyou chibang de tianshi” (literal translation: Angel without wings) but half of the excited audience didn’t want to leave although the lightning was on and announcement was made to ask audience to leave the venue. Audience continuously screamed for encore. As a result, people made a lot of noise for 10 minutes before they leave the venue. police and security guards were brought in to maintain order and evacuate the crowd out side of the backstage door of Hong Kong Coliseum, police made announcement continuously “Andy Lau has left Hong Kong Coliseum 20 minutes ago, everybody, please go home.” Then Andy’s fans reluctantly left the venue. Because it was New Year, Andy specially instructed that he doesn’t wish to sing “Sad love songs” that night, he chosen happy songs for the encore songs after countdown. He shake hands with audience as he sing songs, many fans took the opportunity to embrace Andy and will not let him go. They kissed Andy crazily and he hurt his hand repeatedly and blood-stained again. Not only female fans, male fans also went crazy, there was a male fan unexpectedly threw Andy a gift watch from auditorium , Andy received it and watch it for a second, then asked, “How much was the watch? Wow! $200,000! I can’t receive it. It is too expensive. I can’t accept it, Thank you so much. If you wish to give me a gift, you might want to donate money to Andy Lau Charity Foundation.” and asked a security guard to return the valuable watch to the male fan. There was a fan who even gave Andy a few month old baby to attract him. Andy received the baby and had to carry the baby to sing. The night before yesterday, Lam Ka-tung also came to see his boss’s performance. Except for him, in the previous performance, Mr. and Mrs. Liu (Liu Jia-chang), Mona Fong, Sandra Ng Kwun-yu, Chahng Wah-sin, Wong Yun-ji, and even Hoong Ceen-leui came from Guangzhou to support him, Andy is most grateful to all of his show business friends who came to support him, Andy need much time for the preparation because the opening “lightning” effect was very special in this concert, therefore there was not enough time for him to greet guests one by one at back stage. Through newspaper, Andy hopes he can thank to every friend who came to support him at the concert. He hopes they will not mind that he can’t greet them personally. Especially to Sister Leui, Mr. Liu Jia-chang and Miss Fong, Andy says “Nobody informs me about my superiors, I am embarrassed that I didn’t know they had come to my concert. I would like to take this opportunity to wish them a happy new year.”
Besides, Andy’s son, Andox and Hak Jai also appeared on stage and performed. They even sang “Infernal Affairs” with him, and got applause from the whole audience. The two young oxen are very witty and funny. In order to gain Andy and Fan’s attention, they even compete for Andy’s love and pretend to fall down the floor and asked Andy, “Mom, which one do you save first?” But Andy’s unexpected reply was “I have been in show business for such a long time, but I just know that I need to stand up if I fall down!” Andy then gave them advice. Audience was very amused by that.
