[Track]Shaolin Press Conference in Shanghai
Director Benny Chan brought along Andy, Fan Bingbing and Nicholas Tse to the press conference of Shaolin inShanghaion 17 January.
In Shaolin, Andy had quite a number of fighting scenes. When being asked about if he minded to be compared with Jet Li, he replied, “I have no choice. It’s not possible for me to fight better than him. I have already seen through all these and it doesn’t matter if somebody wants to compare between us.” The focus of Shaolin is on the acting part rather than the kung fu. In Andy’s eye, the major feature of Shaolin is the psychological description of Chinese Boxing. “A person who practices martial art, his strength is strong and expression in eyes is ruthless if one’s thought is to kill others; while Shaolin Boxing is different in the attitude – laugh and happy. No one will get hurt, neither oneself nor the others.” He also revealed that he wanted to be a director. “But the steps towards has been slow for me and I got many concerns. Shaolin, actually, has approached me to be its director and I had discussed with the production team for two months but I still think I cannot manage as I worry the script won’t be good enough and the issue will stop there. Then, a year later, Benny Chan told me he was going to shoot this film and asked me to take up a character.”
Andy will have two films, Shaolin and What Woman Wants, being screened during Chinese New Year respectively, when being asked if he wanted to exceed Ge You, he exclaimed, “I’m not as good as him, his films do well in box office. I’m also afraid of this (having two films screen at the same period). I have discussed with him and we, as actors, cannot control when our films will show in cinemas.”
